to Karisma Animal Companions, where Peter and Miriam Dixon live among their beloved alpacas (and their many other animals).

At the top of this page you can see just a few of their dozens of alpacas running enthusiastically to greet them, over the green fields of their home in the rich Waikato farmlands of New Zealand.

Below the alpaca picture is our navigation menu bar. Each of its three headings has a drop-down menu with links to other pages on the site. You will find the same menu everywhere in this site for your convenience in finding your way around.

Below the menu bar, forming a background for the menus themselves, is a close-up view of the fabric of a shawl hand-made from the fibre of the alpacas. This is unique felting created by the cunning hands of Miriam herself - she who "listens" to the fleeces as they run between her fingers whispering suggestions of what style of apparel she could best create from each different fleece.

No wonder there is a quirky magic attached to each of the treasures emerging from this unusual cottage industry - hand-crafted, utterly unique, fantasy garments whose softness, lightness and warmth need to be experienced to be believed. Could this magic have been helped along by these elves we spotted, surreptitiously fingering some alpaca wool in Miriam's workshop? Perhaps they come to life to sprinkle fairy dust over her creations while she sleeps?

Everything produced by the Karisma Team of "cottage industrialists" is entirely from NZ owned alpacas, and is entirely designed and hand-crafted right here within the exclusive Karisma team, creating a unique high-quality product. Full details of how the business works are explained on the "About our Creations" page.

It comes as no surprise to discover that in earlier days, Miriam was a florist - it goes a long way to explain the feeling for colour and line so evident in the garments she creates and perhaps in the quietly recurring daisy motif you begin to notice, gently haunting her designs.

Peter and Miriam promote alpaca to the general public, wherever possible, to encourage a wider understanding of alpaca and their awesome fibre, and so kiwis can become more aware of the growing alpaca industry in this country. Their commitment is to Karismac Alpaca, improving the quality, and offering to breeders and lifestylers animals they are proud to have carry their stud name.

Why do they love alpaca so? The photo below just says it all . . . . .
